2013, Cowell's lawyer denied rumours that Cowell was romantically involved with
socialite Lauren Silverman, the wife of Cowell's friend, real estate developer
Andrew Silverman. The lawyer avowed that, "any insinuation or statement
that my client is engaged in adultery and has supposedly broken up the marriage
of Ms. Silverman is not only false but reckless."[76][77] However,
on 15 July 2013, Andrew Silverman filed for an at-fault divorce in New
York, citing adultery by his wife and naming Cowell as a
co-respondent.[78] News
of the divorce filing became public two weeks later, when it was widely
reported that Lauren Silverman and Cowell are pregnant a baby.[79] The
child will be the first for Cowell, but the second for Silverman, who has a son
